The invention relates to an insulating board for roof insulation, preferably made of rigid foam plastic, which for lateral connection is provided on the opposing sides with tongue and groove, which run obliquely with respect to the outer face of the insulating board and rise from the upper edge to the lower edge of the insulating board with respect to the outer face, and which for arranging successively in rows is provided on the upper edge with an insert web and on the lower edge with an insert groove aligned and matched with the latter. Permanent, definite water drainage without water drainage channels in the outer face of the insulating board is achieved according to the invention by the upper edge merging via a sloping transitional section, adapted to the smallest roof pitch, with the outer face of the insulating board, by the lateral tongue and groove merging in the region of the upper edge with the insert web and by, in the region of the lower edge, the lateral tongue and groove running out with their upper sides in the end region of the thickness of the insulating board, which region is determined by the sloping transitional section.
