Appts. and method are claimed for forming a pattern of different colour(s) and/or flavour(s) which extends longitudinally right through all cross-sections of a rapidly consumable prod., i.e. any slice taken transversely from the prod. will show the same pattern on all four, cut faces. The pattern is made up of a great number of longitudinal threads separately extruded from nozzles of an extrusion head. Extrusion takes place as the prod. is displaced longitudinally or in rotation, w.r.t. the extrusion head. The direction of movement of the prod. is the same as that of the extruded material. If required for pattern formation, threads are extruded so close together that they merge into each other. The extrusion head is piped to a source of supply for pattern-forming material and is made relatively displacable to the prod. The nozzles are pref. disposed along one edge of fine manifold pipe which can be formed easily into a required pattern. The manifold pipe and nozzles can be formed by electrodeposition on a fusible core, e.g. wax which is then cost by melting. Used for making esp. ice cream bars, candy and bars of toilet soap, with an interior pattern extending through all cross-sections. |
