PURPOSE:To obtain a lithium tantalate single crystal capable of following the high-frequency oscillation of an elastic surface wave element, by restricting the Mn concentration in the impurities existing in a lithium tantalate single crystal below a specific level. CONSTITUTION:The concentration of Mn in the impurities of a lithium tantalate single crystal is restricted to <=5ppm, preferably <=2ppm. A high-quality wafer for a high-frequency elastic surface wave element can be produced without causing the discoloration of the crystal, and a wafer applicable to a high-frequency device is obtained without raising the production cost. |
