PURPOSE:To prevent a space from being generated between tracks by making the track width drawn by a preceding core group recording in precedence over a magnetic tape wider than the track width drawn by the succeeding core group performing saturating recording with a delay to the preceding core group. CONSTITUTION:Plural core groups such as a magnetic head 2' or a magnetic head 3 provided with plural cores 2'a, 2'b, 2'c, 2'd or 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d are provided along the running direction of a magnetic tape 1. The width of track 4' drawn by the preceding core group such as the magnetic head 2' performing recording in preceding over the magnetic tape 1 is made wider that the width of a track 5 drawn by the succeeding core group such as the magnetic head performing saturating recording on the magnetic tape 1 with a delay to the preceding core group so as to prevent a space such as a guard band from being generated between the tracks 4' and 5, because the overlapped width of the track 4' and the track 5 even if the magnetic tape 1 is fluctuated in width direction of the magnetic tape 1 between the core group such as the magnetic heads 2', 3. |
