<p>A continuously cast slab of steel contg. 0.01-2.5 wt. % Al is held in the temp. range from the Ar3 point to 650 degrees C for >=20 mins., when the slab temp is first in this temp range after casting, to ppte nitrides, followed by hot rolling. The treatment coarsens the nitride pptes to facilitate prodn. and improve the quality of the final prod. (e.g. the sheet has a good profile and shape with a low crown). When the treatment is applied to electrical Si-contg. steel, restriction of grain growth during subsequent annealing by Aln pptes. is reduced so that the product has excellent magnetic properties.</p> |
