1518310 Latches WILMOT BREEDEN Ltd 17 Sept 1976 [17 Sept 1975] 38143/75 Heading E2A A rotary bifurcated latch bolt 15 engages the shank of a striker pin 19 and is held in the fastening position by detent 16 which can be removed by control means. Both are pivoted by pins held between front and back plates 11, 12 of the latch casing, between which is also located a plastics moulding 22 (Fig. 2). This moulding contains a pathway for the entry of the striker pin, holes for the pivots two rubber blocks 21, 30 and a leaf-spring portion 25 bounding one side of the pathway. Part of block 21 has a bore to accommodate bolt pivot 13; the resilience of the block tends to push bolt 15 towards plate 12, contact is however prevented by plastics bushing 20. The striker pin on entry engages leaf-spring 25, which is buffered by block 21 and which, in combination with bolt 15 in the later stages of entry; provides a wedging action for better retention of the pin. The pin comprises part 28 of block 21 which provides an initial throw out on release. Pin 30 on pawl 16 is buffered by block 30. |
