PURPOSE:To omit complex processing such as the conversion of a time base and to reduce the size of the titled device by recording an outer code parity of chained clodes for error correction during the vertical blanking period of each track and recording inner code parity collectively in an exclusive track. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal inputted to an input terminal 4A is converted into parallel video signals 6A-6D for four tracks downed at the rates to 1/4 by a data separator 6. A intra-block parity bit and an outer code parity block are added to a video signal 7A to which a synchronizing code or the like is added during a horizontal blanking period and a vertical blanking period respectively by a parity generating circuit I 44 and a parity adding circuit I 45A and recording signals 12A-12D are outputted. On the other hand, the video signal 7A is supplied also to a parity generating circuit II 46 and inner code parity blocks 46A-46D are generated, multiplied by a multiplexer 47 and then outputted as a recording signal 12E through a parity generating circuit III 48, a parity adding circuit II 45e, a parallel/serial converter 9B, and a modulator 10B. The recording signal 12E is recorded on a track T5. |
