Since generally only a restricted space is available for mounting a filter, a filter is created having a maximum filtering surface in a restricted narrow space, the construction of which is simple and cheap and which, to remove sludge, can be easily dismantled and assembled. This filter has a filter material having a perforated core element, whose two surfaces are covered by filter cloth. The core element can be made from a semi-hard material having relatively low bending strength. The filter material is then formed into a perforated core cylinder or a perforated core web from which a multiplicity of arrangements can be composed such as a multiple ring arrangement on concentric circles having different diameter. By using the perforated core element to produce the filter material and a combination of filter cloth having a doubled surface area and perforated core element, a large filtration surface is obtained by means of which a low filtration rate can be realised. The filter thus created has an excellent filtration efficiency since a smooth path for the filter liquid is produced. <IMAGE>
