Appts. comprises rotor (9) having bottom wall (9b) and inner wall (9a), and open side covered by closure member (20) having fibres feed duct (11). Downstream of the duct (11), in the direction of rotor rotation, the closure member (20) has at least one suction opening (21a) towards which an airstream is directed from the fibres feed duct direction as the rotor (9) rotates. Pref. a tangent at the suction opening (21) is at an acute angle to the axis of the opening, which is spaced more than an angle of 45 deg. from the fibres feed duct (11). Fibres reach the rotor inner wall (9a) in straight condition, since they do not abruptly decelerate when the exit from the fibres feed duct, so the spun yarn is uniform and strong.
