PURPOSE:To utilize effectively each block by decreasing the size of each block of a buffer and storing dividedly a frame data in some idle blocks in a manner to be chained with each block. CONSTITUTION:A buffer area 40 of a shared memory 33 of a gateway (GW) of a local network consists of small blocks 401-403 divided equally and the size of each small block is set so as to be smaller than the maximum frame size to be handled. When frame data is transmitted, a microprocessor 31 checks a Q table 51 to check a head RCT possible for use and when it is an RCT 351, the RCT351 is referenced, its operating flag is set, an RBCT541 is referenced based on an RBCT address, and when the space is deficient, since the block is chained to other small idle block 402, the chain address in the RBCT541 is accessed. |
