PURPOSE:To extend the life of oxygen concn. measuring function by removing the influence of carbon dioxide, by using a highly active metal as a positive electrode while using lead as a negative electrode and using an aqueous solution mixture of hydroxyacetic acid, an alkali metal and a lead compound as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:In an oxygen densitometer using an aqueous mixture of a 2mol/l of hydroxyacetic acid, 4mol/l of potassium acetate and 0.1mol/l of lead oxide as an electrolyte 3, oxygen in gas to be detected transmits a diaphragm 4 with a thickness of 20mum comprising a tetrafluoroethylene/ethylene copolymer to reach the surface of a positive electrode 1. Because reaction is generated at the positive electrode 1 and a current is flowed to a lead negative electrode 2 corresponding to the amount of transmitted oxygen, an oxygen concn. is known by measuring voltages at both terminals of a resistor 7. By this method, the solubility of lead oxide into the electrolyte is high and the electrolyte is acidic while there is no influence of carbon dioxide because no hydrogen is generated from the positive electrode and the life of a densitometer can be extended. |
