PURPOSE:To change the body length of a roll in conformity with the width of a plate by forming the body end of the roll into a tapered shape, fitting a tapered sleeve onto the roll and providing a liquid pressure chamber to the inside circumference of the tapered part of the sleeve. CONSTITUTION:When a pressure oil is supplied from an oil path 16 into an oil chamber 14, a tapered sleeve 6 moves to a neck part 2 side and is held loosely fitted to a tapered part 3. The range where rolling down force is transmitted is only the body part 1 of the roll. On the other hand, when the pressure oil is supplied from an oil path 15 to the inside of an oil chamber 13, the sleeve 6 slides to the part 1 side and is held engaged with the tapered part 3. Since the rolling down force can be transmitted by the sleeve 6 as well, the body part 1 is equivalent to the state that said part is apparently extended by the length of the upper tapered sleeve 6. |
