PURPOSE:To enable the processing of a mixture of a figure and a character only by a code processing, by dividing the figure into meshes, by determining figure codes for each mesh, and by registering mesh patterns in a figure memory corresponding to the figure codes. CONSTITUTION:A specified rectangular area in a document is set by the functions of an input unit 1 and a control unit 2 and divided into meshes of MXN, e.g. 9X8, and a coding determination of a figure code is performed for the respective coordinates of each mesh. Figure codes denoting the coordinates of the rectangular areas are registered in a document memory 5 in such a manner that 96-section 1st point, 96-section 2nd point and 96-section 3rd point are given, for instance, to meshes 91-93, respectively. Tiny patterns thus prepared, which are made to correspond to the figure codes, are stored in a figure memory 8. At the time of document display/printing, patterns corresponding to the codes in the document memory 5 are read from the figure memory 8, and thereby a document in which a figure and a character are present in mixture can be displayed or printed. |
