PURPOSE:To reduce the equipment and facilities of a hydroelectric power station and shorten the time required for fill-up of water by controlling the water level in a draft pipe by use of a draft drainage pump and by using a water fill-up detector additionally for checking the fill-up of water within the casing chamber of a runner chamber. CONSTITUTION:When a drain valve 19 and an exhaust valve 14 of a dasing 3 and an exhaust valve 11 of a runner chamber 8 are opened, and a guide vane 5 and a draft gate 7 are closed, a draft drainage pump 22 is driven with a water level detector 21 to control the water level of a draft pipe 6 at a constant level, and a phase modifying or pumping standby operation is performed with the runner chamber 8 and the casing 3 drained up. When the water level depression release is ordered for a water wheel, the exhaust valve 11 is closed and the guide vane 5 and a bypass valve 17 are opened to take the pressure water within a conduit tube 1 into the casing 3, and at the same time the gate 7 is opened to take the pressure water from the drainage passage into the draft pipe 6 for raising the water level in it. Next, with the operation of a water fill-up detector 31, the exhaust valve 14, the drain valve 19, and the bypass valve 17 are closed and the exhaust valve 11 is opened. When the detector 31 is once returned to its former position and starts working again, then the valve 11 is closed. |
