PURPOSE:To improve high-temperature resisting characteristics, by making the detecting terminals of an optical fiber cable to face either slit parts of a rotary slit plate or fixed slit plate, and detecting the reflected light. CONSTITUTION:In an encoder 8, slits 12 of a rotary slit plate 2 are made to face slits 13A and 13B of a fixed slit plate 3. A light emitting element 4 and light receiving elements 5A and 5B connection to a signal processing circuit 11, and a control device 10 is constituted. Incident light from the element is received by a light emitting terminal 24 of an optical fiber cable 20. Detecting terminals 21A and 21B of the cable 20 are made to face the slits 13A and 13B, respectively. Two pieces of light returning paths in the order of the detecting terminal 21A a light receiving terminal 25A the element 5A and in the order of the detecting terminal 21B a light receiving terminal 25B the element 5B are constituted. Thus the highly heat resisting cable 20 can be readily obtained, and the element 4 can be provided at the low temperature part of the device 10. |
