PURPOSE:To enable increase of an electric amt. to be injected by vapor depositing WO3 in an atmosphere of introduced water vapor to form a display electrode. CONSTITUTION:An electrochromic display element is composed of a transparent conductive film 2 having a display electrode 3 made of a WO3 vapor deposite film, a transparent base 1, a counter electrode 5 having a background material 6, a transparent base 4, etc. The vapor deposition of WO3 is executed usually by evacuating a vacuum chamber once to about 1X10<-5>Torr high vacuum, and then introducing water vapor to adjust vacuum degree within prescribed range, preferably in a water vapor partial pressure of 1X10<-5>-1X10<-3>Torr. |
