摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily adjust the depth of charge for a battery active material without taking any reducing means from outside by electrolytically reducing a positive or negative electrode active material and by generating halogen gas or oxygen gas through the electrolytic reaction of the facing electrodes in an electrolytic cell where the electrolytic reduction is performed. CONSTITUTION:In a positive electrode active material tank 4 of a battery main body (flow type electrolytic cell) 10, a draw-out pump 7 and a rebalance electrolytic cell 8 are provided; chlorine is generated through the electrolytic reduction of the positive electrode active material, and this chlorine and the hydrogen in a negative electrode active material tank 1 are lead into a chlorine-hydrogen fuel cell 9 via lines 16 and 15 respectively so as to react with each other for later use as fuel. And the generated hydrogen chloride is supplied to the electrolytic cell 8 via a line 17 for use as electrolyte. In this way, when the electrolytic cell is energized, it is possible to adjust easily and stably the depth of charge for the battery active material by taking a simple means of, for example, adding chloride such as hydrogen chloride for the case of halogen gas being generated or adding hydroxide such as water for the case of oxygen being generated; therefore the charge/discharge cycle of a battery for a long time can be made possible.
