PURPOSE:To simplify structure and improve responsiveness by providing a damping force adjustment mechanism, which selectively furnishes an oil chamber with oil pressure through a spool valve, in an oil pressure shock absorber for adjusting car height of an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A valve member 16a, provided in a spool valve 16 so as to freely make vertical movement under predetermined control, is moved upward or downward and further a solenoid valve 15 is opened. Thus, car height adjusting oil pressure is selectively furnished to either of oil chambers 19b, 19c of an oil pressure cylinder 19 to raise its oil pressure and also to lower the oil pressure in the other chamber, damping forces of shock absorbers F1, F2, R1, R2 being adjusted. Subsequently, the solenoid valve 15 is closed and the piston 19a of the oil pressure cylinder 19 is maintained in its position. Further, the spring rate of the whole suspension is variably adjusted by means of the ON-OFF valve 21. Thus, structure is simplified and responsiveness is improved. |
