A double-sided stretched surface recording disk (10) includes a circular, planar main body (24) at the periphery of which are located two reference surfaces (20, 22). Iron-oxide coated polymer films (14, 16) are stretched across the reference surfaces (20, 22) on each side of the main body (24) and bonded to each other at an edge (30). In a second embodiment, the disk main body (72) is annular rather than circular and further includes reference surfaces and a sharp edge located at the inner edge of the disk body (72) which are the mirror image of the structure located at the periphery of the recording disk. In this embodiment films (74, 76) are attached to each other at the outer and inner diameters of the annular main body (72). |
