(A) alpha-Amino-acids of general formula:- (I) R4 and R5 = H and/or alkyl or, when R4 and R5 are in o-position, may together form a methylene group. M = alkoxy, amino or hydroxy n = 0, 1 or 2. (B) Acid addition salts of (I) with organic and inorganic acids. (C) Intermediates in the synthesis of (I) (see "Preparation") Decarboxylase-inhibitors in man and mammals. Also very valuable anti-hypertensive agents which may be used in cases of virulent hypertension. May also be used as intermediates in the synthesis of norepinephrinic cpds., which may be used as pressor-agents.
