PURPOSE:To achieve quick deceleration of internal-combustion engine, when stopping a reciprocal compression internal-combustion engine, by opening an exhaust valve through a deceleration cam with crank angle in the proximity of top dead center of piston thereby discharging compressed air in the cylinder into the exhaust tube. CONSTITUTION:A deceleration cam 3 having open and close positions of an exhaust valve 2 for opening said valve 2 at the position different from open/close positions of exhaust valve 2 in a cam 1 or immediately after compression stroke is provided in adjacent to a normal operation cam 1 having open/close positions of normal exhaust valve 2 to construct a cam mechanism for driving the exhaust valve. When setting the open timing of exhaust valve 2 immediately after top dead center of piston by means of said cam mechanism 3, compressed air in the cylinder is discharged into the exhaust tube. Consequently, energy consumed for compression is discharged to provide brake function to the internal-combustion engine itself resulting in achievement of quick deceleration of internal-combustion engine. |
