Assembly for converting a front-wheel drive vehicle with a transverse engine and a differential with a case 10 inserted between the output of the gearbox and the front-wheel shafts, characterised in that the differential case 10 is provided with a bush 15 extending around a shaft of one of the driven front wheels 11 and having means for coupling it to a sleeve engaged on the said driven front-wheel shaft and guided in bearings of a case, the said sleeve comprising a bevel gear interacting with a bevel gear connected to a transmission shaft driving the rear wheels via a rear axle assembly. <IMAGE>
