PURPOSE:The titled composition, which hardly causes blooming of benzotriazole, has excellent physical properties, and are suitable for wire coating, made by incorporating benzotriazole, an inorganic filler, and an elastomer into a polyolefin in specified wt. proportions. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. polyolefin such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc., 0.5-5pts.wt. benzotriazole as a corrosion inhibitor, 3-50pts.wt. inorganic filler (e.g. talc or calcium carbonate) and 3-40pts.wt. elastomer (e.g. an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or a butyl rubber) are compounded to give the polyolefin composition of the invention. The incorporation of an inorganic filler and an elastomer serves to improve the compatibility of the polyolefin with the corrosion inhibitor so as to prevent blooming of benzotriazole, thus enabling stable extrusion of the composition. |
