PURPOSE:To constitute a prism moving type optical switch which has a small insertion loss and responds at a high speed, by setting two optical reflective parts to both ends of a freely turnable holder member and placing these reflective parts so that they can be inserted to and removed from two optical paths. CONSTITUTION:Trapezoidal prisms 53 and 54 are set to both ends of a holder 55 which is freely turned by a revolving shaft member 56; and when a solenoid 58 is turned on, an iron core 57 is attracted, and prisms 53 and 54 are deviated from optical axes by turning of the member 56, and parallel optical beams 60 and 61 emitted from input ends 41 and 44 are made incident on output ends 42 and 43 respectively. When the solenoid 58 is turned off, these beams are reflected totally on reflective faces of prisms 53 and 54 which are inserted to optical axes, and the light from the input end 41 is made incident on the output end 43, and the light from the input end 44 is made incident on the output end 42. Consequently, a 2X2 prism moving type switch is constituted, and the response speed is high because the length of movement of prisms is only 2mm., and positional slippage of prisms due to oscillation does not occur because the center of gravity of the holder 55 is held by the revolving shaft 56. |
