In order to increase the rated-current load of a medium-voltage switching installation having single-pole encapsulated busbars (22, 23, 24), whose encapsulation (25, 26, 27) is composed of individual encapsulation elements, it is proposed to allocate to each busbar whose rated-current load is to be extended or increased at least one further busbar (28...30) which is equipped with separate encapsulation elements (31...33), to connect it in parallel and to connect it in an electrically conductive manner to the first-mentioned busbar. This further busbar can be at least largely identical to the first-mentioned busbar in terms of its construction, cross-sectional dimension and encapsulation. The current-conducting connection between the adjacent busbars of the same polarity in this case takes place by means of at least two, but preferably by means of a plurality of, rigid connecting rails, whose total cross-sectional area at least corresponds to that of the attached further busbar. <IMAGE>
