The compressed-air core is an air cushion adapted to the outer skin of the sailboard. It has an air-inlet valve and one passage each, extending from the top side (deck) to the underside of the board, for the shell of the mast-foot rail, the shell of the centreboard case and the shell of the fin. The sailboard type characterised by a compressed-air core shows a substantial saving in weight compared with the board having a foamed-plastic core.
