PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer medium capable of transferring a high- density image with a minute amount of energy, by providing a silicone oil film layer having a film thickness of not larger than 1mum on the side of a transfer sheet opposite to a transfer layer, in a thermal transfer medium using a leuco dye. CONSTITUTION:The transfer layer comprising a leuco dye as a main constituent is provided on one side of a base such as a paper and a plastic film, and the silicone oil film layer is provided on the other side to produce the transfer sheet. The silicone oil layer is provided by applying a commercially available silicone oil in a film thickness of 0.1-0.8mum. The transfer layer is provided by applying a known leuco dye together with a conventional binder or the like. On the other hand, a receiving layer comprising a color developer for the leuco due as a main constituent is provided on a base such as a paper and a plastic film to produce a receiving sheet. It is preferable to incorporate a porous filler having an oil absorption of not less than 50ml/100g, a heat-fusible substance or the like into the receiving layer in addition to the color developer. |
