Aqs. solns. of water-insol. cpd. are obtd. using a solubilising agent, a non-ionic surfactant contg. a hydrophotic radical linked to a polyoxyethylene chain which is statistically interrupted by radicals other than ethylene oxide radicals. Used for the solubilisation of essential oils and liposoluble vitamins e.g. vitamin A palmitate. In the manufacture of cosmetics and in the addition of vitamins to animal feedstuffs. |
