PURPOSE:To obtain a dust core which is excellent in magnetic characteristics by filling amorphous alloy powder in a specific mold and pressurizing and heating it in an oxidizing atmosphere to oxidize and bond the alloy powder. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous alloy powder is filled in a mold which can form an intended shape of magnetic core, e.g., a doughnut type, an E-type or a U-type. In this case, it is desirable that the mean diameter of a grain in the alloy powder is normally approx. 5-100mum. The alloy powder filled in the mold is then housed in a heat-resisting and pressure-resisting container. The container contains a high temperature and high pressure atmosphere wherein the mold is left and the surface of the alloy powder is oxidized and the powder is pressurized totally to form a pressed powder material. The obtained magnetic core is an aggregate of powder bonded by an oxidized film formed on the surface of the powder wherein the bonding is strong and each grain is sufficiently insulated by the oxidized film. |
