PURPOSE:To increase mechanical strength and electrical performance of a plate by forming an active material layer by applying paste containing a binder and active material powder mainly comprising cadmium oxide to a conductive core, and impregnating the second binder, and drying. CONSTITUTION:Paste containing the first binder comprising organic glue and/or synthetic resin powder and active material powder mainly comprising cadmium oxide is applied to a conductive core, and dried to form an active material layer. The active material layer is impregnated with 0.1-5wt% the second binder solution to bond the binder into its pores and on its surface, then dried to produce a cadmium negative plate. The ratio of the volume of the first binder to the volume of active material powder is limited to 0.01-0.4. Mechanical strength of the plate and utilization of the active material are increased regardless of reduced binder. |
