PURPOSE:To enable to favorably print even skew characters, by a method wherein a storing position in a memory means is determined in accordance with the difference between the head dot positions in output from a proportional width designating means corresponding to a code, in a dot line printer or the like. CONSTITUTION:When a controlling part 1 receives a one-line amount of printing image forming commands, it resets an image buffer 6 and an embedding position designating part 10, stores a code for a character at a line head position into a character code latch part 4, designates an address in a pattern memory 5 storing a dot pattern corresponding to the code, and writes it into the image buffer 6. Then a width-designating part 8 outputs an embedding width DB for the character corresponding to the code in the latch part 4 in response to a controlling signl C2, the output is added by an adder 11 to change the content of the part 10, and the subsequent characters and processed in the same manner. Accordingly, proportional printing with favorable appearance can be conducted even for skew characters such as italics. |
