A remotely controllable clamping fixture for joining to one another two pipe flanges located in hot cells of nuclear installations by means of members which can be braced in the radial direction, over-reach the shape of the flanges by means of an inner profile matched thereto, and, by running onto the inclined surfaces thereof, press the flanges against one another in a sealing fashion, one flange being a so-called fixed flange and the other a so-called loose flange. The clamping fixture need no longer be firmly connected to a pipeline, but is suspended in a lossless fashion on the pipeline firmly mounted in the cell. In the event of defects, the clamping fixture can easily be detached and exchanged by outward transfer. This is achieved by a special construction of the flanges with guide bolts onto which the clamping fixture is firstly mounted, and then the loose flange is pushed from the other side by means of a guide plate onto the guide bolts, whereupon the clamping fixture is moved into its final position and comes to bear by means of a single lock screw. The pipe joint is thus produced in a simple way and can be maintained in the simplest way.
