PURPOSE:To extend a recordable band without increasing the diameter of a head cylinder by supplying independent signals of respective magnetic heads while plural magnetic head provided on the head cylinder are brought into contact with a magnetic tape in a reproducing device of the helical scan system. CONSTITUTION:A head cylinder 2 is provided with magnetic heads 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the same rotative face, and an erasing head 9 is provided to precede the magnetic head 6. Azimuth angles of magnetic heads 3 and 5 are equal to each other, and those of magnetic heads 4 and 6 are equal to each other, but azimuth angles of magnetic heads 3 and 5 are different from those of magnetic heads 4 and 6. A magnetic tape 1 is wound spirally around the outside circumference of the head cylinder 2 at >=270 deg. by tape guides 7 and 8 and is run. Recording tracks are formed in the order of tracks CH6, CH5, CH4 and CH3 by magnetic heads 6, 5, 4 and 3 and signals A, B and C are recorded in order on respective fields of each recording track, and thus, recording and reproducing of wide-band signals are possible without increasing especially the diameter of the head cylinder 2. |
