PURPOSE:To make an engine adjustable without its driving, by turning a distributor with a driving device being coupled with the former, while adjusting the ignition timing in conformity with the detected results of a distributor rotating position at that point that a first cylinder is ignited. CONSTITUTION:In time of ignition timing adjustment work, first of all, a crankshaft is stopped at a top dead point, while a driving device 3 is attached to a distributor DB1 in a way of closing motion in a clamp arm 8 by means of an actuator 9. Then, in a state that a DB locking bolt 2b is made to be loosed to some extent, a servomotor 6 is driven, making the DB1 turn within the range of a long hole 2a, and ignition to a first cylinder is made to take place. At this time, an ignition sensor 12 and a rotating position of the DB1 at that point from the output of an encoder 7 for rotating angle detection use are detected by a central processing unit 14. Next, on the basis of this rotating position, the DB1 is turned round as far as a portion for an angle commensurate to the preset ignition timing angle by the servomotor 6, and ignition timing is thus adjusted. |
