Polymers of formula (I) and copolymers of formula (IIe where R is a trivalent org. rad. Ar is aromatic org. rad. substd. by >=1 sulphonic gp. n and m are integers, x is 1-4, Ar' is alihatic, alicyclic or heterocyclic divalent org. rad. Used in electrodialytic varnish compsn. and as cation exchanger. The polymers have good filmogenic props. and adhesion to metals.
