A kitchen appliance with a cooking platform (10), an oven (12) disposed above the cooking platform, and a vapour espace hood which includes a vapour trap (16) disposed beneath the oven, a vapour discharge opening (20) and a blower aggregate (18) dispose between the vapour trap (16) and the opening (20), the blower aggregate (18) being arranged above the oven (12) and communicating with the vapour trap (16) through a vertical chimmey (22) provided behind the rear wall (24) of the oven (12), provided behind the rear wall (24) of the oven (12), and the vapour trap (16) including a shallow vapour trapping chamber (30) extending across the entire bottom surface of the oven (12) and being communicated, on the one hand, to the exterior through a plane grease extracting metal filter (32) constituting the lower wall of the vapour trapping chamber (30) and, on the other hand, to the base (34) of the vertical chimney (22), characterized in that inside the vapour trapping chamber (30) there is disposed a fire shutter (36) which is retained so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis (38) between a normal operative position, in which it is held remote from the grease extracting filter (32) by a combustible or fusible holder (40), and an alarm position, in which upon destruction of the holder (40) it drops due to gravity and interrupts the communication between the grease extracting filter (32) and the base (34) of the vertical chimney (22). |
