<p>A protective fluid, gas or liquid is injected into the furnace simultaneously with the oxygen via coaxial tuyeres in the lateral wall of the converter to protect the refractory in the region of the extended tube of the tuyere from attack by the oxygen jet. The inner jet is used for the oxygen the outer for the protective fluid.</p> |
