ELECTROMAGNETIC STIRRING METHOD IN CONTINUOUS CASTING OF SLAB

PURPOSE:To generate effective stirring at different frequencies and to decrease central segregation by dividing plural coils for electromagnetic stirring built in a roll to two sets and exciting the coils at the prescribed frequencies different from each other. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of coils 14-17 built in a roll are divided to two sets (set U and set V) in such a way that the adjacent coils belong to the sets different from each other. Electricity of the frequencies different from each other is supplied to two sets of such coils. Both of the frequency (x) of the set U and the frequency (y) of the set V are made 2-8Hz. The difference between the frequencies is set at ¦x-y¦<=(x+y)X0.05. Effective stirring at different frequencies is generated by the above-mentioned method, by which central segregation is decreased.
