PURPOSE:To simplify plate group assembly by forming a composite electrode by covering a cathode comprising a core body and cathode active material with an anode comprising a core body and anode active material with a porous separator interposed. CONSTITUTION:A plate-shaped core body 1 comprising a lead grid is filled with cathode active material paste to form a cathode plate, and covered with a bag of a porous separator 4 except for a lug P. Plate-shaped core bodies 5, having larger dimension than that of the cathode plate, comprising lead grid are arranged from the both sides of the cathode plate, and grids of the core bodies are filled with anode active material paste 6 to form an anode covering body 7. A cathode lug P and an anode lug N are exposed outside to form a cathode and anode composite A. A plurality of composites are stacked without separators to assemble a plate group, and absorption performance of gas evolved from the cathode in the anode is remarkably increased. |
