The invention relates to the ventilation of booths for applying paint and other substances, or enclosures requiring uniform and homogeneous ventilation. The device comprises a plenum 5, 6, 7, 8 divided into two portions 5 and 7. These two portions are separated by a screen 6 formed from filters or from perforated metal sheet. The air coming from the generator 3 via the duct 4 is mixed and distributed a first time in the portion 5, the filter 6 acting, by means of its breaking action on the passage of the air, as a first air distributor before it is inlet into the second chamber 7 and then on the filters of the ceiling of the booth 8 which act as a second air distributor.
