PURPOSE:To make it hard to be subjected to the influence of the vibration of an engine by installing a control valve for feeding and discharging pressure oil into an from the hydraulic chamber of a hydraulically operating type valve stopping means, in an inclined posture in which said valve is inclined to a little extent in the vertical direction from a horizontal posure in the right-left direction, nearly parallel to a crank shaft. CONSTITUTION:A valve for the air sucking and discharging system of engine 1 is arranged in such a way that a stopped condition, in which the valve does not follow the movement of a valve cam, can be selected through the operation of a valve stopping means. In this construction, a control valve 3 for feeding and discharging pressure oil into the from and the hydraulic chamger of the valve stopping means installed in a cylinder head 2, is mounted in an inclined posture in which its valve case 9 is inclinined to a little extent in the vertical direction from a horizontal posture in the right-left direction parallel to a crank shaft. The angle of inclination is desirably about 25 deg.. Thereby the vibration of the engine acting on a spool valve 10 in the control valve 3 can be reduced, smaller springs, etc. can be employed, which are provided to protect the device from an inadvertent operation, and the device can be miniaturized as a whole. |
