PURPOSE:To prevent damage of phosphor screens due to a slackened grid by forming a protective film able to be thermally decomposed on phosphor layers followed by heat treatment after applying fixing material while positioning the grid on a prescribed spot on the anode substrate. CONSTITUTION:Phosphor layers 3a, 3b, 3c,... are formed on the surfaces of anode electrodes 2a, 2b, 2c,... by a thick film printing method. Next, a protective film 10 able to be thermally decomposed for protecting said phosphor screens is formed on the whole surfaces of the phosphor layers 3a, 3b, 3c,... A mesh-shaped grid 5 is positioned on a prescribed spot of the anode substrate 1 while conductive adhesive and frit glass are applied on the fixed leg part of the grid 5 as fixing material. Thereafter, the grid 5 is fixed on the anode substrate 1 with the conductive adhesive and frit glass by drying and firing a fixing material while completely burning down the protective film 10 in said firing process. Thereby, the phosphor screens are prevented from being damaged even when the grid 5 is slackened. |
