PURPOSE:To completely delete a printed image when deleting the image, by a method wherein a type is widened in cross-sectional area toward a body, while a controlling means is provided for changing an impact pressure of a printing hammer driving means between printing time and deleting time, and the impact force of the printing hammer at the time of deleting is set to be larger than that at the time of printing by the controlling means. CONSTITUTION:Bevels of the type are tapered to be widened from the face toward a body plate, and an output from a printing hammer driving means is changed between printing time and deleting time so that the printing hammer is controlledly driven with a larger force at the time of deleting than at the time of printing. Namely, the type 35A is provided with a gradient from the face 35C toward the body plate 35B by tapering the bevels 35D of the type 35A. In using the type, when an output signal from a deletion commanding key 42 is supplied, a controlling circuit 43 supplies a controlling signal to a driver 44 so that the printing hammer 4 is supplied with a driving voltage higher than that supplied when an output signal from a printing commanding key 41 is supplied. Accordingly, when a deleting command is received, the printing hammer 4 impacts a type body 5 with an impact pressure higher than that in the case of printing, thereby completely deleting a printed character. |
