<p>Two rings (20) keyed to shaft (19) of a gas turbine, form an annular groove (21) between them and a projecting flange (22) of the rotor (23) fits in this. Flange is secured between the rings by bolts (24). These bolts are dimensioned to shear if the circumferential force between rotor and shaft is increased by unbalance due to the breaking of a rotor blade. An auxiliary connection is formed by a ring (27) which is joined by long axial bolts (25, 26) to one of the rings (20) keyed to the shaft and to the rotor. This connection has circumferential flexibility so that when the main connection has sheared the rotor can oscillate on the shaft while still carrying it round with it.</p> |
