PURPOSE:To reliably prevent knocking by detecting the flame propagation from an ignition plug provided in a main combustion chamber and allowing the second ignition plug provided in a sub-chamber to perform spark ignition based on it. CONSTITUTION:The first ignition plug 3A is provided at a point apart from the cylinder of a main combustion chamber 2, and the second ignition plug 3B is provided in a sub-chamber 6 communicated to the main combustion chamber 2. An ion probe 8 detects the flame proparation from the first ignition plug 3A. A control circuit 10 controls the ignition timing and energizing angle of the first and second ignition plugs 3A, 3B. Accordingly, knocking can be reliably prevented without impairing the output and fuel consumption performance. |
