Method and apparatus for producing filters

A method and an apparatus are described for producing tobacco smoke filters. The filter bodies are applied to a strip of wrapping paper which, from edge to edge, is larger than the circumference of the filter bodies. The strip is guided around the filter bodies at a first part of the strip, which is adjacent to one edge, in order to half-wrap the filter body. Adhesive is applied to the radially outward-facing surface of the first part. Then the strip is guided around the filter bodies with its second part, adjacent to the other of the edges, so that it overlaps the first part which is provided with the application of adhesive.
