<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a cleaning and wiping method for fine fibrous materials which has excellent water absorptivity, is reutilizable by washing and is free from dislodging of fibers, etc, during use by sandwiching an optical fiber with cleaning and wiping means consisting of a polyvinyl acetal porous elastic body having specific void volume, degree of acetal formation and average pore size and passing the fiber therethrough under rubbing. CONSTITUTION:Rollers 5a, 5b each formed by inserting a polyvinyl acetal porous elastic body which has 85-95% void volume, 40-80mol% degree of acetal formation and 10-200 average pore size and is formed into a cylindrical shape onto a shaft and adhering the same are fixed at such a space between said rolls as to sandwich an optical fiber 4 therebetween and a solvent is impregnated into said rollers. The rollers are then rotated, by which the surface treating agent on the surface of the oprical fibers is rubbed away. There is therefore no dislodging of fibous materials unlike in the conventional method and the rollers are reutilizable; moreover, the polyvinyl acetal porous elastic material having high water retentivity and high resilience is used for the rollers. The optical fiber is sandwiched by the two rollers and is passed therethrough under rubbing, by which the uniform and stable removal of th surface treating agent from the fiber is made possible.</p> |
