For direct injection diesel engines a swirled flow (24) of the cylinder charge is necessary for preparation of the mixture in the cylinder (25). In the case of a cylinder head (11) designed for a pre-chamber diesel engine, which has two inlet valves (12, 13) and two inlet ports (17, 18) running separately, a diaphragm (20, 21) is incorporated in each inlet port (17, 18) slightly above the respective valve seat for adaptation to the requirements of direct injection. Each of the intrinsically circular diaphragm apertures is reduced by a circular segmental baffle face (22, 23). In the fitted state the diaphragms (20, 21) have a certain position in relation to one another and to the direction of the swirled flow (24). This position of the diaphragms (20, 21) is optimally arranged so that the one inlet port (17) causes a swirled flow (24) and the other inlet port (18) does not give rise to any disruptive counter flow. <IMAGE>
