PURPOSE:To prevent abrupt drop of the engine speed, by detecting the condition of a power circuit just after electric means such as head lamps, a radiator fan, etc. are switched from ON to OFF, and stopping control for decreasing the quantity of intake air in case that judgement is made that the load of a generator is too high for an engine. CONSTITUTION:An air passage 8 communicated with the atmosphere is connected to an intake pipe 3 on the downstream side of a throttle valve 5, and a valve 6 for controlling the flow rate of auxiliary air is disposed at an intermediate portion of the air passage 8. The idling speed of an engine is controlled by controlling the valve 6 by an ECU 9. In such an apparatus as above arranged, the ECU 9 is designed to control the opening of the control valve 6, that is, to increase or decrease the opening of the control valve 6, according to the ON/OFF conditions of electric means 16-18 such as head lamps, a radiator fan, a heater fan, etc. Further, in case that a generator 20 is judged to be in its full-capacity operation due to consumption of a battery 19 just after the electric means 16-18 are switched from ON to OFF, control to decrease the quantity of intake air by the control valve 6 is stopped for preventing abrupt drop of the engine speed. |
