<p>A sandwich is constructed from a stone slab, a glass slab and an intermediate layer of transparent thermoplastic material capable of adhering to both slabs after heat softening. The sandwich is subjected to a bonding treatment under 10 bar ambient pressure and at 135 deg. C for 30 mins., which softens the thermoplastic material to bring about adhesion of the two slabs and penetration to the bottom of surface defects (cavities, hollows, cracks, etc.) in the stone, with subsequent cooling.</p> |
